Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells
My first trip to Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells came earlier this summer for one of my best friends bachelor party. We arranged for a limo to pick us up in Stoughton and take us to Wisconsin Dells and more specifically, Ho Chunk. After a fun-filled ride that was an adventure in itself, we arrived at the Casino. I didn’t quite know what to expect or how Ho Chunk, a Wisconsin Casino, would compare to some of the Vegas Casinos that I had visited last summer, but if it was anything like a Vegas Casino, I knew it would be a good time.
Upon Arrival
We entered Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells through the main doors into a huge lobby fitted with an impressive-looking waterfall and some nice natural-looking Native American décor. There were rock formations for which Wisconsin Dells is known for, pine trees, and wild life representing different Tribal Clans. And for all those who haven’t seen the outside of the casino, it is quite impressive as well.
First off, I had always thought that Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells was only a Casino, but soon found out that it is also a hotel and convention center. Another interesting fact that I later found out is that Ho Chunk is the fourth largest Native American Casino in the United States, which I was unaware of. Anyways, onto the casino floor.
Big Time Gaming in Wisconsin
The floor definitely exceeded my expectations. Obviously, there was that all to familiar ringing of the slot machines, but you get used to it pretty quickly. I was happy to see that it wasn’t too smoky in there. I went to a couple smaller casinos in Vegas that I could barely stand, but this was nothing like those. The slot machines seemingly go on forever. In all, there are over 2,500 different slot machines to choose from at Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells. It was nice to see that there were penny slots for all those who prefer the lower stakes, as I do.
As for all you gamblers out there, not to worry, there were plenty of higher stake slot machines as well. I also enjoyed watching the black jack tables, and the couple of friends of mine who decided to try their luck against the dealer. Although I never played there, it’s always fun to watch and cheer your friends on, even if they lose.
They also have a 600-seat bingo room filled with people of all ages. You only have to be 18 to play bingo at Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells, but the slots, tables, and video poker require you to be at least 21 years old. A group of us found some slots that we liked and decided to settle in for a while. The waitresses in the area were quick to serve us with some beverages.
Another nice thing, which is comparable to the big Vegas casinos, is the Ticket-In Ticket-Out (TITO) feature which eliminates the need for pulling cash out of your wallet or purse. If you aren’t sure how this works, let me explain. Once you are done playing on one machine, you will hit a cash out button on that machine which will eject a ticket. The ticket will show you how much money you have to play with, and also has a barcode on it for cash out purposes. You can then go to another machine and slide in the ticket and start playing just like that. It’s really convenient and easy to use. After you are done for the day, you simply cash in your ticket at one of the many cashier booths and that‘s that.
The Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so you are not rushed at any point. Also, be prepared to spend a lot of time in there. For one, the place is huge, and for two, I have found that it’s rather easy to lose track of time when you are inside a casino. We tried to walk around the entire casino, but I’m pretty sure we missed some sections since it’s so big. Also, there is always some sort of promotion going on. All in all, we all had a good time and I can honestly say that this casino rivals any casino I stepped foot into in Vegas, and that includes Caesars Palace and the Bellagio.
More Amenities
Although we didn’t stay in the hotel, use the convention center, or eat in any of the restaurants on our trip, I thought I‘d share some things that I saw while I was there as well as some basic information that I found in my research. This Wisconsin luxury hotel features 300 plus rooms and suites, five restaurants, and some great on-site recreation opportunities for guests.
Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells offers a standard deluxe room, corner suite, VIP/hospitality suite, executive suite, and a romantic honeymoon suite for all you newlyweds. The hotel also has a very nice fitness center and aquatic center for hotel guests. As for the restaurants, like I said, Ho-Chunk has five of them on-site. To name a few, there is the family style restaurant called the Stand Rock Buffet, the romantic Copper Oak Steakhouse & Lounge, and the best place to get your drinks, the Wo Zha Wa Bar & Grille.
Events and Convention Center
There is also a 30,000 square foot convention center at Ho Chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells which is perfect for conducting business matters and trade shows. If you are having any sort of corporate convention, this is the place to have it. After a long day of business meetings, you have an opportunity to relax and enjoy the casino, how do you beat that? The convention center is also perfect for weddings as they have a grand ballroom that seats up to 1,100 people.
